WOMEN EMPOWERMENT AND DIVERSITY
The importance of women diversity has gained significant traction across various sectors, including workplaces, educational institutions, and leadership roles. This approach involves including women from diverse backgrounds and addressing their unique challenges, fostering an inclusive environment that benefits everyone. In the professional realm, promoting women diversity aims to break the glass ceiling and increase women in leadership roles, enhancing organizational performance through diverse perspectives and innovative solutions
Saveetha College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (SCLAS) is dedicated to promoting women diversity through initiatives like the "Born to Shine" seminar and the SIMATS International Women’s Day Celebration 2024. SCLAS maintains a 2:3 male-to-female teaching staff ratio highlighting its commitment to gender balance. Prominent female leaders at SCLAS include Dr. Gunita Arun Chandhok, Principal; Dr. V. Arul Mary Rexy, HOD of Commerce; Dr Celia B.R HOD of Corporate Secretaryship, Dr Shibe Rimo, HOD of Business Administration Dr. D. Akila, HOD of Computer Application, Dr Jayakarthi, HOD of Computer Science and Dr Kalaiselvi HOD of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.
During the 2024 International Women’s Day celebrations, SIMATS honored the following women with the SIMATS Women Iconic Awards: Dr. Meenakshi Vijayakumar, Joint Director, Fire Services, Tamil Nadu; Ar. Mrs. Sujatha Shankar, Member of INTACH's Governing Council and Executive Committee; Dr. Lakshmi Priya, CEO of Pachyderm Tales and Joint Managing Director of Varthamanan Publishers; Mrs. Latha A. Kumaraswami, Managing Trustee of the TANKER Foundation; Dr. Deepa Rajesh, Vice President and Executive Director at AMET University; and Dr. T. Devasena, Director at the Centre for Nano Science and Technology, AC Tech, Anna University. Additionally, 12 faculty members received the SIMATS Stalwarts Award for their outstanding contributions. These efforts underscore SCLAS’s commitment to celebrating and promoting women’s achievements and leadership, paving the way for a more inclusive and equitable future.
Women Empowerment Cell - Workshop on Grooming
250 students and faculty participated in the workshop Titled “Grooming Essentials for Students” with the Resource persons Mr. A. Annamalai, MD, Mrs. Sumathy Annamalai, Center Head, and Mr. V. Sibin, Business Development Manager, Naturals Beauty Academy, Chennai organized by the Dept. of FinTech on 31st August 2024.
